Carter's first trip to the zoo

For Chris's family's spring break his parents and sister Shari came to visit us for a few days. We decided to take a little trip to the Phoenix zoo while they were here. Carter wasn't so much interested in most of the animals, but he is always up for being outside in his stroller. He did like the birds, the baboons, the fish, and the goats in the petting zoo area. They were animals that we were able to get up close to and really see or touch. Carter loves dogs, and I'm pretty sure that he thought the goats were just big dogs walking around.

Chris was pointing out the sleeping lion to Carter and explaining that they are always sleeping.:) Chris's biggest memory of the zoo as a child, was hearing the lions across the zoo, running to see them, and then finding them asleep when he got there. Stupid lions!

We also had fun going out to the Cheesecake Factory, and spending some quality time at home. Carter loved being with his Grandma and Grandpa and especially had fun with his aunt Shari!

Carter loves having visitors, and he especially loves other kids. My friend Julie who moved to Alaska came to visit right after Chris's family came. It was so fun to see her and her kids Chloe and Lincoln. Chris and I miss hanging out with their family! We were together all the time when we all lived in St. George. We hope we get to keep seeing them, because Adam's family lives here in Phoenix. Yay!

Carter also has lots of fun playing with his friend Adam Blais. Casey, Emily, and Adam Blais live here in our ward. We get together alot and our boys follow eachother around and love playing and sharing toys. (Carter is all about sharing his toys... but he's still working on sharing his food.) :)

CARTER PLAYING WITH ADAM

Carter's new skills include waving "hi" and "bye", putting his toy phone up to his ear, and he has taken his first steps! His current record is four steps in a row. Then he chooses to slowly sit down and crawl the rest of the way.
Chris is working hard in all his classes, and has less than 2 months to go on his first year of law school. So far he has done extremely well, and hopes to keep himself in the top of his class. (Which I have no doubt that he will! He is very dedicated and always on top of things.) He looks forward to putting in some hours at the Maricopa County Attorney's office this summer, and is planning on getting a part time job also.
What am I looking forward to? I start physical therapy tomorrow. I am hoping that this will be the beginning of the end of my headache (which I have had for 2 months straight now). No pain killers help, and its getting really old. Some days are really bad, and some days are not so bad, but its always there. Especially when I lay down to go to sleep. I'm starting to forget what its like to NOT have a headache. I can't wait to feel normal again!

A big fat ball of stress... that's me.

The last couple of weeks have been kinda crazy. We had to do some traveling to be with family for both happy and sad reasons. . .

First, came the sad... We flew up to Salt Lake to be with Chris's family, because his Grandpa Burton passed away. It was rough for Chris, but he gave an excellent talk at the funeral about good memories and all the things that his grandpa had taught him through the years. We were glad that we were able to be there with his family, and participate in the funeral.

Our next trip was 5 days later. We drove up to St. George for my brother Kyle's wedding. It was a long drive and a quick trip, but there's no way that we would've missed it. Kyle seemed really happy, and we are happy for him. It was fun to visit with all the relatives that came. We also got to spend some more time with the Burton family. We stayed with Chris's sister Lisa and her husband Jeremy, where Carter had a lot of fun playing and watching their dog "Kitty" run around.

On both trips, Carter didn't sleep very well. Soooo, it was a little rough running on little to no sleep. Traveling with a baby can be the opposite of vacation. Carter likes to be home in his own bed with his usual schedule. But, he did do pretty freakin good in the car this time around, and did better than I thought on the airplane. Also, its hard for Chris to take time away from school in the middle of the semester. We are both looking forward to being home now and trying to get a bit of relaxation at some point. Chris has some catching up to do, and I've been dealing with some headache issues that are supposedly caused by too much stress. So just relax right? Rrrriiiight.
Carter happy to be home, and giggling in the tub.
