Day at the Museum

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the Phoenix Science Museum. We went with a little group including Christy Wadas and her girls and Emily and Adam Blais. It was nice to get out of the heat and do something a little different for a change. A lot of it was a bit over Carter and Adam's heads, but there were a few spots that were meant for little ones, and they loved it!

I didn't get a picture of the plane, but that's what we are all looking at right here. It was a model plane, where you could make it fly and the wind would blow in your face. Carter liked the plane, but was not so much a fan of the wind blowing in his face! He would hold his breath and then struggle to get away. :)

There was an area with linkin logs where we hung out for a while. Carter tried to put as many logs in his hands at once as he possible could, and Adam had fun tearing down the towers that were being built. There was also a little computer and a drinking fountain that were a smash hit for the boys. One would be at the computer, the other at the fountain, and then they'd switch. Carter used the mouse as a telephone half the time. He always pretends that he's talking to "dada".

They also had fun playing with a basketball hoop and at a little play area that had a playhouse and all sorts of toys. And lets just say Carter was not very pleased when it was time to go.:)

Carter has fun with his best friend Adam... and they are learning to share...

Carter thinks its sooo fun to wear mommy's old glasses!

Yahoo fer Chris!

Chris got a letter telling him his rank after his first year of law school. He is currently 5th in his class! Holy crap, yeah!! I am so proud of him, and I'm glad that he is happy with how law school is going so far. Besides doing so well, he truly enjoys what he is doing. He is also having a good time with his summer job at Maricopa County. He's made a few new friends and finds the pretrial work that he does very interesting. He comes home and has good stories to tell.

As for Carter and I, we are enjoying summer so far. Its great to have Chris home a bit more than usual, and we go swimming a few times a week. The days we don't swim we have to try to find fun things to do indoors. Carter is a busy boy, and loves to go places. He gets a bit of cabin fever if we don't go somewhere everyday, so I need to come up with some more ideas. Its too hot for him to run around outside. When we swim, he likes to climb out of the pool and explore the yard ,so I have to splash him (which he thinks is funny) or grab him and bring him back in the water to keep him cooled off.

Some of the most simple things become fun toys! Carter's favorite toy right now is this silver bowl. He puts it on our heads and then his own-- like a hat. Good times:)

Happy Father's Day!

On Saturday we had a lot of fun celebrating Father's Day. We went swimming in the afternoon, took Carter to an indoor playland at the mall, and then went to Red Lobster for yummy dessert!
Carter loves the slide! He is able to go down by himself now without falling backwards. His favorite thing though is to try to climb up the slide. We have to keep moving him so other kids can come down:)

Its a special treat now when we go out to eat. You would think that we would never choose to go to Red Lobster after working there for so long, but we still love some of the food (especially the lava cookie dessert! Yummy!) Carter loves eating out, and makes friends with all the people around us. He waves to the tables next to us throughout the whole meal.

Getting ready for bed

Carter's favorite time of day (besides every meal) is when we get him ready for bed. He loves his routine, and looks forward to every part. He loves splashing in the tub and playing with the bubbles. Then when we get him out, he loves running from us when we try to put his diaper on. He has so much fun playing, putting his pajamas on, drinking his bottle, and then brushing his teeth. He's just started trying to brush his teeth all by himself. And its great how he gives us hugs and then happily waves to me as Chris takes him down to his crib. Its so cute and fun for all of us. What a happy way to end the day!
There was one night where Chris pulled his ears and made a funny face and noises, and Carter laughed so hard! Now every night when Chris comes home he immediately tries to pull Chris's ears to get him to make the noises again. I love his laugh!

More St. George trip pictures!

Thanks to my sister-in-law Lisa, I now have some fun pictures from our trip to share!

Look how huge Carter's piece of cake was! He was not shy about diving in, and he loved chocolate!

Jeremy and Lisa gave Carter some cute clothes, and a farm animal book that he loves to look at every day. I'm trying to teach him to say all the animal noises, but he still makes pig noises for every animal.

Carter loved all the great toys he got from his Grandmas and Grandpas, and Aunts and Uncles. He Looooves Mickey mouse, so he got a kick out of the balloon they gave him (he kept licking Mickey's face). And as usual, he loved rolling all over and playing in blankets with everybody.

Carter and Kitty were both ready to be let outside. :) Carter loved to push the dogs around in his new toy car more than he liked riding inside it.

Summer is here!

So I am slacking on this blog, but I think once a month is better than nothing, right? I'm spending a lot less time on the internet lately, which is a good thing I think. Chris just finished his first year of Law school and we have been having a lot of fun the last couple of weeks. He had a two week break of no school and no work, which was awesome! The first week we went to St. George and spent time with both of our families, and the second week we relaxed at home.
CARTER STARTED COPYING DAD'S LOUD SNEEZING

We did a lot of fun things in St. George, but I only took a couple of pictures on our St. George trip because our camera died and I forgot to bring the charger (good one). So I'll have to eventually steal some pictures from people who had a (working)camera, and put some on here.

The first day we were there we had a fun day of swimming and pizza with my family. Chris and I have always been swimming freaks, and luckily we popped out a little one that loves it too:) It was fun to be able to spend time with the entire family at once. Monday's are the best because its family night... which means my dad gets to be home for sure:)

Then Tues. and Wed. we relaxed, went to lunch with Chris's parents and Lisa, took Carter to the park and swimming, and hung out with the Burton family for dinner. Carter always gets a kick out of all the dogs that are at Grandma and Grandpa Burton's house. They have 4 dogs, plus Jeremy and Lisa have a dog that comes over to play too. Carter wanted to play with the dog toys, and the dogs wanted to play with Carter's toys.

Oh yeah, there are two dogs at my mom's house too. Carter kept trying to eat the dog food, so Chris finally said "let's just let him eat some, and that'll stop him from wanting it anymore".... um, wrong. Carter ate it, and immediately grabbed for more! Gross.

Thursday and Friday we spent more time with my family. We had a barbeque one night, and the other night my parents watched Carter so that Chris and I could go on a date. It was really nice to spend some time alone on our vacation. We went to the movie Iron Man 2, which was awesome, and then went out to dinner with my parents later.

Saturday was really fun! We had a birthday party for Carter with the whole Burton clan. We went mini golfing at Laser Mania, which was fun for Carter because of all the glow in the dark pictures on the walls and golf balls. Then after a nap for all of us) we played games and had fun watching Carter shovel chocolate cake in his face. His piece of cake was bigger than mine! Then Sunday we went to Church and listened to Chris's sister Shari speak, and enjoyed the rest of our Sunday with the Burtons.

I was worried that our vacation would be more stressful than fun, because I thought Carter would hardly sleep and have horrible naps. BUT, he actually slept awesome!! Darin and Robin brought their crib over to my mom's house, and he slept great in there. Plus, he took way longer naps than normal. And I don't want to jinx anything, but he has been taking 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour naps ever since. Its great!!

After our trip, we enjoyed relaxing at home for a week. We went swimming a lot and played lots of video games after Carter went to bed. Sometimes having time off and being home is the best kind of vacation.

Chris got his grades back for the year, and he couldn't be happier. He doesn't know his rank yet, but he got an A+, A+, A, A, A-, and his accumulative grade point average is a 4.0! Yay Chris!! We went out to dinner to celebrate, and had a fun time. Now Chris has started his summer job at the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, and he is really liking it so far. The first day he got to do some plea agreements and really enjoyed it-- so I think that's a good sign. :)

CARTER PUSHING ADAM IN HIS NEW COZY COOPE
Carter got this car for his birthday from Grandma and Grandpa Burton. For some reason he only wants to push it, and for a while he would cry when we tried to put him in it. So it works out perfect when his friend Adam comes to play! Adam rides and Carter pushes.

Carter pushed Adam up and down the driveway until A.D.D. got the best of him and he wandered off. :)

Adam loved sitting in the car and didn't want to get out, so Carter started handing him toys in there.

Snack break! It's so funny how these two follow eachother around.
